Ed Kamrin

Principal Consultant

I founded Kamrin Communications in 2020 to help create positive organizational and social change through the power of communications. My specialty is sifting through complex information and ideas to find the stories and messages that resonate most. From that foundation, it’s possible to change behaviors, attitudes, and perceptions. When communications strategy is firmly grounded in an organization’s purpose, it can help move (proverbial) mountains.

My favorite part of owning a consultancy is working with clients and building long-term relationships. Over more than twenty years in communications, I’ve worked with organizations including Intuitive Surgical, JLL, McKesson, Splunk, NetApp, Traditional Medicinals, Amgen, SunPower, and Gilead Sciences, as well as government and nonprofit organizations such as the Contra Costa Community College District and Friends of the Petaluma River. I gravitate to new initiatives and times of transformation. Along the way, I’ve developed expertise in employee engagement, community engagement, social impact, and sustainability.

For more than twenty years, I’ve served Bay Area nonprofits as a pro bono marketing consultant. I’ve also served in leadership roles on nonprofit boards for fourteen years; currently, I’m secretary/treasurer for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and board chair for the Scandinavian School and Cultural Center of San Francisco.

Since 2018, I’ve been certified as a Strategic Communications Management Professional through the Global Communication Certification Council. After earning an English degree at Swarthmore College, I studied languages at the University of Helsinki and business at UC Berkeley Extension.

Early in my career, I worked as an English teacher in Finland and still maintain my Finnish and Swedish. Learning languages and traveling gave me a unique perspective that guides me in all I do, even as I celebrate many years in beautiful, vibrant, and much warmer San Francisco.
